4 vs 3

Player serves into one of the front 3 and joins in play with the objective being to combine and get in behind the defence and score. If defenders win try and score in mini goals.

KCP

-The number 9s should be encouraged to turn and play through whenever possible

-9 comes to play, 7 and 11 on shoulder ready to run into space

-Set back to 10 a trigger for 3rd man run

-When wider 7 and 11 comes short to create more space for 9 to run into

-Intelligent and synchronised movements, combined with passes that follow the player’s movement

-The players should communicate and focus on connecting with their team-mates to show where they would like to receive the pass

-Making dummy runs and feints will help to deceive defenders and create space

-Blind-side runs may be used as they are hard for defenders to see and anticipate

Progressions

-4 vs 4

-5 vs 5 introduce 4 & 8

-touch limit for midfielders

SSG 7 vs 7- Working with 9, 7 & 11 to find the space behind defence

-Encourage Blues to play nice and high, and reds create depth & width which will allow them to disrupt the blues shape and get in behind

KCP

-9 starts between CB on last shoulder to stretch defence

-7 and 11 start wide as possible, with 8 and 10 operating in half spaces to create space for 9 to receive

-4 holds, security and cover

-The number 9 can act as a reference point for others- if the number 9 drops deepto receive the ball can the wide players exploit the space left behind? 7 and 11 to run off 9

-If 7 & 11 receive ball, can 9 get in behind FB and CB, can 8 and 10 underlap

-The attacking players should constantly be scanning the pitch, using their bodyposition and looking over their shoulders to be aware of the space, the positionof the opposition and the movement of their team-mates

-Good communication helps players to understand where the ball can be playedand the quality of the pass required

-Deceptive movements and passes can help to open up spaces in the defence

-Synchronised movements with team-mates can also help to open up spaces inthe defence. If a wide player drops deep, then this may pull the full-back out andthe centre-back across, meaning that there may be space to exploit in thecentre

Progressions

-Blue have 2 holders instead of 1

-Introduce line for blues to defend (encourage high line)
