Warm Up (20 mins)

Intervals:

2 min work + dynamic movements

Setup:

2-3 teams

Half field with wide areas as shown

Activity:

A) passing ball side to side

B) pass to end zone player and lay off to dribble across line

C) pass to run across offside line

Coaching Points:

+ No square passes (horizontal & vertical)

+ Movement to get "ahead" of the ball (which might be creating width)

+ Using different foot surfaces to pass/receive

+ If facing "backward" must play 1 touch

6v3 Rondo (20 mins)

Setup:

40x40 grid split into 4 quadrants

Activity:

6v3, after 3 passes can play forward to next square.

Progression:

~ Progress to forward run with offside line (no minimum number of passes required)

Coaching Points:

+ Reading the cues of when to get ahead of the ball

+ Technical details to play quick (receive correct foot, first touch in direction of play, passing to correct foot)

+ When offside line added, understanding that the deeper players should make the forward runs (need space)

6v6 - Outward Facing Goals (30 mins)

Intervals:

5 min work + 1 min rest x 3 reps = 18 min

Setup:

Half field, working between 18 and midfield

Team in possession scores in forward set of goals OR passing across line (offside line)

Coaching Points:

+ If we attack one area, how does that affect other goals?

+ If a goal is open on other side, how do we quickly transfer ball?

+ "If she can play forward, I have to get forward"

Activity:

Normal soccer rules EXCEPT:

If player receives with back to goal, MUST play one-touch

6v6 - 1-0 Game (20 mins)

1-0 Game:

If the red team score first

1. The blue team have 90 seconds to score a goal.

2. The red team cannot score another goal until the 90 seconds are up.

3. The red team cannot kick the ball out of the boundaries (Otherwise they lose a player).

4. If the blue team fail to score, then the red team win and a new game begins.

5. If the blue team score within 90 seconds, then the game continues.
