Exercise 1 (15 mins)
Set Up: 12 X 10 yard
4 attackers and 2 defenders
Organization: Attacking players must play 2 touch minimum and look to play ball down to far players either down the line or through the window
Defending players must provide pressure and cover.
Work to Rest Ratio: 1 minute rounds 1 - 3 work to rest
Coaching Points: Basic principles of 1st and 2nd defender (1st and 2nd)
1st - Declare, angle of approach, forcing into cover and taking away the line. Speed of approach understanding distance of approach. If space is great, delay and get organized. If space is small, engage with speed but composure
2nd - Communication on where you want the ball forced. Space between 1st defender and 2nd attacker - two questions - Are you just close enough to deter the pass, or far enough away to invite it and intercept. Reading of pass - as ball travels, provide pressure or delay.
Progressions: 1 touch entry pass
