Block 3, week 1
Building up the GK's fitness and speed on getting around goalmouth. Introducing mannequins so the GK has to think about moving around.
Gear: Balls, Cones, Mannequin

Instructions:
GK to start at red cone facing the goal; C throws / kick towards goal which the GK has to stop.
service: ground / mid / over head
Progression:
GK starts on line facing the goal; on command, turn, step and set. C to feed ball scoop, L & R
service: Low & Mid
Coaching points:
GK is on balls of feet & setting quickly with no sagging
GK is alert to ball
GK gathers ball or moves it away from goalmouth

Instructions:
GK start behind and facing mannequin; on command, comes around the side (both sides) and takes shot from C
Progression:
GK to come round side of mannqeuin, touch blue cone and set
Coaching points:
GK is moving whole body around the mannequin and setting quickly
GK is not overstriding in any movement
GK sets over knees

Instructions:
GK to come out and pass 1 to C and immediately returns to save the shot from the C who has taken 2 touches. GK gets rid of ball and immediately moves to ball 2
Progression:
Mannequins used to get in the GK's way
Coaching points:
GK is taking most direct route to ball
GK gives a quality, weighted and timed pass to C
GK returns quick and sets for shot
GK catches or pads ball away from goal

Instructions:
C to feed balls over for a cross, GK to come out and collect ball at his highest point - (both in and out swinging balls
Progression:
C to get in and try and get to ball
Coaching Points:
GK is open to seeing as much of the outfield as possible
GK is watching angle of ball and coming out to meet the ball using his highest point.
GK is not coming out too far and leaving goal open
GK is gathering ball or padding away from goal.
