Description

The 4-4-2 formation is to defend with hi pressure and staying compact. When we apply pressure the shape needs to move side to side creating a clog in the final third and center midfield. Our unit will make them play the ball outside with a long pass or switch the side of attack.

*If the team plays the ball down the right or left side, the midfield diamond will shift giving up the one side of the field to be exposed (see shaded areas). This is our only weakness and the success comes through moving side to side quickly. The back four will slowly become a flat four and our strikers will take away the outside play of the opponents back line. If the team is not strong with playing out of the back, we will press the AM up to the center back.
