warm up

The players will begin by going for a light jog around half the pitch, slowly warming up their body and getting all social talk out so that they are fully focused on the session. They will then move to some dynamic movements and stretches, making sure that they dont pull anything during the session and putting them in the correct mindset to get the most out the session. Moving on to the final part of the warm up, it will be games of 1v1 foot tennis where the rules are that you are allowed 2 touches maximum and the ball is only allowed to bounce once before you return it, however you cant have bounce after you have touched the ball. Each game will be first to 5 points and then we will move the players round, there will be 4 rounds of games. The purpose of this drill for the warm up is to get the players as many touches on the ball with close, technical control and sharpen up their skills for the main drills of the session.

This drill consists of 5 successive shots which are to be taken first time, working on all types of finishing inside the box. All shots are to be hit first time and this drill workers on a players power, precision and timing. The player will begin the drill by taking a penalty against the keeper, he will then sprint back to the edge of the box around the pole and receive a first time shot from the left, he will then run back around the pole and take a first time shot from the right. The player will then go back round the pole and take a cross from the left which will be a first time finish and then finally back round a pole for a first time finish from a cross from the right. The drill heavily focuses on first time finishing inside the box and has alot of game realistic aspects, such as cut backs and crosses for the striker to deal with. The striker will do 1 set of 5 shots and then the striker will be changed.

1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 finishing

This drill is all about finishing inside the 18 yard box and also includes some dribbling , vision and defending. The group of players will split up into 2 groups, with one group being the attackers and 1 group being the defenders. It will either be a 1v1 , 2v2, or a 3v3 and these will vary each time. The attackers will start outside the 18 yard box with the ball and will have to dribble it into the area and try and score past the defenders and goalkeeper. The attackers wont be allowed to shoot until they enter the 18 yard box which gives the defenders time to come out and set. The aim of this drill is to score as goals as possible and be sharp and cliniclal infront of goal

small sided game

This drill is a 8v8 overall however it is a very narrow pitch and it is only 6v6 inside the width of the 18 yard box as there are 2 wingers per team on each side of the bitch which can be used as bounce players or to deliver a cross into the box. The scoring in this game is 1 goal awarded for a normal goal and 2 goals awarded if you score from a cross inside the box from the wide players. Once a players passes to a wide player they then swap positions with them and the player from the game goes to be the wide player, and the wide player can either dribble into the pitch, pass to a teammate or cross the ball into the box. This drills encourages balls into the box and clinical finishing infront of goal, linking to the aim of th session.
