Session Overview
Mini Futsal Session 5
Topic: Coordination and Ball Control
Focus on keeping players engaged through story telling
"The Jungle Adventure". Be creative. Try to keep the children moving and stimulated. Explain the activities, but please don't talk too much. Keep the children active, involved, stimulated and moving.
Before going to the Jungle to watch the lions, we have to go to the airport and catch our "flight" to the Jungle!
Players first have to get their "Ticket". Starting from home, players have to run to get all of the futsal balls and dribble them into airport.
Flight to the Jungle: Players follow the coach around the cones, over the cones "mountains", and to the jungle. Take your time going on our flight.
Activity One- Follow The Lion Quietly
Players quietly follow behind the lion (coach). When the lion turns around to roar at the kids, the kids must quickly get to a tree (cone, carpet, disc, etc). After several times without the ball, we then have them hold a ball, then have them dribble a ball.
Then, instead of running, we have them bravely attack the lion by throwing the ball, then they will kick the ball.
Activity Two- Let’s Get Our Dinner!
The bananas (balls) are on the discs, cones, or carpet squares and the kids are in the center circle outside of the square. They will have to come in and get their bananas back to their magic pellet without being tagged by a lion (coach). First with their hands, then with their feet. If they get tagged, they must do 4 toe taps on their bananas before they continue to their magic pellet.
After they have taken their bananas back to their pellets several times, you can then have them put their bananas in the giant basket (goal). First with hands, then with feet. Again, if the coach gets them before they get to the basket, they have to bounce their bananas three times or do three toe touches in order to keep going.
Activity Three- Going Down The River!
Set up a trail of cones or a pathway for them to run down. Don’t let them get hit by the piranha fish (soccer balls) as they cross the river. The coaches roll the balls slowly across the river and the kids avoid being hit.
Now the kids will take their ball across the river without the crocodile (coach) eating their ball.
We can then get in our beds (lay on the ground) to go to sleep before leaving the jungle in the morning. Repeat what we did to start the session to get back in our cars and head back to the airport and back to America.
Coach be the judge and play if there is time.
First, rolling a ball out, calling their name, and letting them score.
Then, calling two names and having them go against each other
Finally, 3v3 or 4v4 if they are ready for it
