Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Levittown SC: Snoopy Program

Freeze Tag (5 mins)

Organization:

-No soccer balls

- Some of the players are chosen as taggers, roles switch after each round.

Instructions:

QUICK WARM UP ONLY. NO MORE THAN 5 MINS!!

Taggers run through the area trying to tag the players in White

If a player is tagged, they are frozen and must raise both hands

To get unfrozen, a teammate must high-five a frozen teammates hand

Coaching Points:

Head up to see taggers

Change of speed and direction to avoid taggers

Communication when frozen-call for HELP!!

Progressions:

Speedwaay (10 mins)

Organization:

20x20 area, can be bigger if needed for more kids

Each player with a ball

Instructions:

-The coach starts out as Chick Hicks, players have to dribble from one end to the other without getting caught by Chick and without their ball going out of bounds. If the coach tags a player or ball goes out of bounds, they must put their ball outside of the area, and become Chick Hicks henchman.

- When a player reaches one end of the field, they must perform any of the car actions learned earlier while waiting for the rest of their teammates(such as windshield wipers, cleaning the car, filling it up with gas, etc).

The game ends when there is one player remaining or all players have been tagged.

Coaching Points:

-Keeping the head up when dribbling

-Watch out for other players, Chick Hicks and henchmen and staying in-bounds

-Change of direction/pace with the ball

-Keeping the ball close to the body

-Big touches when there is open space, little touches when Hicks is nearby.

Progressions:

Begin with more than one or two Henchmen (parents/coaches join in)
