Operational Principles:
  • Condense space between lines
  • Condense lines horizontally
  • Protect the goal
  • Prevent playing through
  • Command: "Double" when opponent receives the ball between lines. Pitch, shift.

Individual tactics: Contain / slow them down / recovery behind the ball line

Small group tactics: 1-4-5-1

Back 4 - always +1 in the middle channel

5's - Condense space between lines. defend flanks (pressure, cover, balance)

1 - Side of the ball for counter attacks

Collective: Make it compact / Keep it compact - Control the middle channel

 

What if:

They play 3-5-2? "6" drops to form a back 6 line

They play it through? Pressure the ball from multiple angles

They play it over? "1" defend space behind the ball
