Warm Up (Passing In Sequence) (15 mins)

SET UP: 20x30 Grid (more than 12 players use a 30x30 grid) Number each player, and start with 3 balls given to 3 players that do not follow each other numerically.

INSTRUCTIONS: On the coaches call players will pass to each other in sequence of the numbers. (1 passes to player 2, player 3 to 4, player 4 to 5 etc). The last player will pass their ball to player one to repeat the cycle. Every minute or two add in another ball until every second player has a ball.

CONSTRAINTS: In the beginning to encourage movement off the ball, have the players run an touch a cone in the opposite end of the square and get back into the play as fast as they can.

FOCUS: (One focus) or all of them. 1st touch, dribbling, passing, receiving, turning, shoulder checking, vocals.

PRESSING WARM UP (20 mins)

SET UP: Diamond using cones 10 yards apart.

INSTRUCTIONS: The first player passes to the right, the player across quickly presses passively to the receiving player. The receiving player hangs onto the ball, until the opposing player finishes pressing. The players follow the process with the player across passively pressing and returning to the back of their original line. 

VARIATIONS: Pressing players go to the back of the line they pressed against. 

FOCUS: Reacting and pressing with a purpose.

1v3 Pressing (20 mins)

SET UP: (3) 10x10 boxes (15x15 for more players) (4) pop up nets place in the far corner of the square, (4) cones for a 5x5 middle box. (4) Even teams ((3) teams in each square and one defending team in a central box.

INSTRUCTIONS: On coaches word, one player will press and try to win a ball from a team of 3 in the first square. If they are successful, then they can have a shot on the pug net. If the team in possession completes 2 consecutive passes they move the ball into the next square where a new defender comes in to try and win the ball. Switch defending teams every few minutes. Attacking Players can move the ball into any of the zones. Defending players can only move into a square when the ball is arriving.

CONSTRAINTS & VARIATIONS: Add or subtract players on both defending or attacking to find success with pressing. Dispossessed team switches to defend. Make squares bigger with more players. Switch to 2 touch only. 

FOCUS: Pressing techniques. Angled Runs, cutting off path of passing, Hi intensity.
