Exploit space in midfield to create overloads in final third (25 mins)
ORGAINSATION:
Attacking Players = Blacks - representing a 1/4/3/3 formation.
3v2 or 3v3 in the square.
The objective for the Blacks is to create space, exploit space with a ball to either Winger or Central Striker and then one Central Midfield player can join in, to make it a 4v3 overload to try to score.
Defending Players = Reds - representing 1/3/5/2 formation
The objective for the reds is to win the ball back and either play into either goal at the earliest opportunity, if not, they build from the back and keep possession by making 5 passes = goal too.
10 balls = 10 attacks, then swap over.
Possible Key Points: ATTACKINGCentral Midfielders & Front 31. Create space - wide and long in square2. Movement to receive ball in square3. Quality of pass to either 7/9/11 - exploit space down sides or through middle of pitch.4. CM run and join in with an aggressive approach on/off the ball5. Creating crossing opportunities/exploiting the middle with RWTB/dribbling to score.6. Observe defending players - try to put the ball into the space/gaps to exploit defenders position - observe GK position in goal and place ball in a less defended area to score.7. Score by sliding ball down the side of keeper ground/aerially or clever finish e.g. chip the GK.Possible Key Points: DEFENDING Central Midfielders:1. Observe players body language to play a pass to other midfielders - press ball if nearest man and try to show inside or outside depending on situation with support from other CMs. 2. If playing with 3 CM the 4 must be able to screen in front of 9 to stop passes going through to exploit middle of pitch. 3. Make space narrow compact and allow passes to go side ways where there is a numerical advantage.4. Win ball - keep ball for 5 passes or score into either small goals.Central 3 Defenders:1. Nearest player to man with ball - press.2. Supporting player provides cover.3. Balance. 4. DLP 4 drops into spaces which have been vacated by the first defender to act as cover and remain compact 5. Other CMs drop to remain compact and close off spaces gaps so attacking players cannot exploit.6. win ball - keep possession and build through midfield or score into either small goals.
