THEME/WHAT

3 v 3 + 3 neutrals

DESCRIPTION OF PRACTICE/ WHY:

A Small Sided Game designed to improve players passing, movement, quick play and transitioning

ORGANISATION/HOW:

• 30x 20 metres
• 3 Blue Players v 3 Yellow Players + 3 Red ( could use keepers in zone
  
• Both teams play a 1.2.1 formation
  
• When the ball goes on of play restart with pass or dribble into play
• If point (success) is scored or the ball goes out, game restarts with the goalkeeper/zonal player
  
• In possession Goalkeepers/ Zonal player are limited to two touch or two seconds
  
• Communicate/ transitions and tempo
  

• Let the game flow freely, not too much stops, let the players solve the problems
• Look for diamond shape when attacking (width and depth)
• Remind players they need to keep structure in defending and attacking
• Look for them to take advantage of scenarios when the opposition reacts slowly – quick play, shift the ball
  
• Communication
• The 6 scan, open shape, two touch only
