Coach Expectations for Each Age Group
PreK & K (Ages 3-5)
Energy & Engagement: Coaches should be animated, enthusiastic, and fun. Sessions should feel like play.
Clear, Simple Instructions: Use short, easy-to-understand instructions with lots of demonstrations.
Ball Mastery Focus: Every child should have a ball at their feet most of the time.
1-on-1 Coaching: Help kids with basic movements like dribbling, stopping, and turning.
Group Coaching: Engage the entire group through fun, imaginative games and activities.
Encouragement Over Correction: Emphasize effort and fun rather than technique.
Game-Like Play: Even in small-sided games, encourage dribbling and individual confidence.
Minimal Waiting Time: Avoid lines; keep kids constantly moving.
Behavior & Class Management: Keep kids engaged by transitioning smoothly between activities and reinforcing positive behavior.
