Warm up (10 mins)

Organization

Set up as shown in the diagram

 Set 1 through 2 hurdles, pick up the ball, set 2 shuffle between cones, set 3 dynamic exercise.

Each exercise twice 

Arms forward /Arms backward 

High knees/Butt kicks

Straight kicks/across-body kicks

Open gates/ Close gates

2 shuffle left/ 2 shuffles right

Back peddle halfway/sprint halfway

Full Sprint/full back peddle

Jog halfway, back peddle, full sprint

Coaching Points 

The tempo of the activity, slow to fast.

Range of movement.

Maintain good mechanics – on balls of feet, arm, and leg actions.

Passing 1 (15 mins)

Organization

Set up as shown in the diagram

The player starts 7.5 yards away from the coach and they pass back a forth for 60 seconds (2 touch) 2 sets

Then the player moves back to 15 yards away from the coach they pass back a forth for 60 seconds (2 touch) 2 sets

The player comes back to the first set of cones and plays 1 touch - 60 seconds - 2 sets 

Then the player goes back to the 15-yard mark and plays 1 touch from there - 60 seconds - 2 sets

The final set the player starts at the 15 yard mark, receives the ball, plays 2 touch back to the coach then comes forward to the 7.5 markers and plays 1 touch, repeat pattern for 60 seconds - 3 sets.

Eye on the ball

Standing foot planted beside ball – Point toe at target

Lock kicking foot

Strike through the middle of the ball

Body Weight over the ball

Ball Control – Cushion

Get in line with the flight of the ball

Visual check

Offer the surface (inside/outside of foot)
Withdraw the surface to cushion the ball

Passing 2 (15 mins)

Organization 

3 x 3 yard box with the player in the middle

The coach plays the ball to the player in the middle of the area the plater follows the pattern

Inside of right foot touch to inside of right foot pass (60 seconds)

Inside of left foot touch to inside of left foot pass (60 seconds)

Inside of left foot touch to inside of right foot pass (60 seconds)

Inside of right foot touch to inside of left foot pass (60 seconds)

Outside of left foot touch to inside of left foot pass (60 seconds)

Outside of right foot touch to inside of right foot pass (60 seconds)

The player and coach are 20 yards apart

Start with low-driven passes (15 - 20 passes) 

Progress to lofted passes (15 - 20 passes)

Alternate types of passes (low-driven, lofted) 3 sets of each

Long Passing – low/lofted passes

Eye on the ball 

 Planted non kicking foot slightly behind ball

·       To the side of the ball – low driven pass

·       Behind the ball – lofted pass

 Use the instep (toe down heel up)

 Strike through the middle of the ball
