Setup: Same as Activity 1
Organization: Attacking mid-fielders play a 3v1 rondo in the Middle Third. Once they complete 5 passes they can play to the 7/9/11. Defenders are constrained to inside the shaded pitch until ball is played out of the middle third. 7/9/11 are not constrained at all and are free to find space to get open, but CANNOT be Offsides. When / if blue receives ball the Mid Fielders can move up 6 v 7 ensues to goal.
Tweaks: Defenders must wait outside until the attacking team touches the ball (easier). Only have 2 or 3 defenders (not 4) to make it easier for the attackers.
Coaching Points: 1st attacker (e.g., 10) look for space to penetrate. Decide & execute. 2nd attackers (e.g., 8, 6) support wide and below. 3rd attackers: Look for space behind / between defenders. Try to pin / drag defenders away from action. Work to create "flat" passing options. Point out when defense is compact vertically and horizontally, leaving space behind defenders and to side / around defenders.

Setup: Create a box width of the 18, to half space between arcs (shaded pitch). Attacking team is in 3-3 + 2 servers (CBs). Defending team is in 4-3. GK Optional but recommended.
Organization: Attacking mid-fielders 8 & 10 play a 2v1+2 rondo in the Middle Third. Once they complete 5 passes they can play to the 10/7/9/11. Defenders can make any shape they want, but cannot enter the shaded pitch. 10/7/9/11 are not constrained at all and are free to find space to get open, but CANNOT be Offsides. When / if blue receives ball the Mid Fielders can move up 6 v 7 ensues to goal.
Tweaks: Defenders must wait outside until the attacking team touches the ball (easier). Only have 2 or 3 defenders (not 4) to make it easier for the attackers.
Coaching Points: Point out when defense is compact vertically and horizontally, leaving space behind defenders and to side / around defenders. Point out when defense is stretched vertically and horizontally, leaving space between defenders. Point out when defense is "cheating" to the inside / compact to play behind / around.

Setup: Even teams. No constraints. Attackers are in a 2-3-3. Defenders are in a 1-4-3. Place mini-goals at midfield to represent targets for defenders on counter-attack.
Organization: Play ball into attackers. Play unconstrained to goal. 1 point to attackers for goal. 1 point to defenders if they can get ball to mini-goals.
Tweaks: Defenders must wait outside until the attacking team touches the ball (easier). Only have 2 or 3 defenders (not 4) to make it easier for the attackers.
Coaching Points: Simplify coaching points: if defense is compact vertically and horizontally, play around / over. If defense is stretched vertically and horizontally, play between gaps. Catch them being good.
