Inter-sectorial game: Switching the point of attack to exploit space on opposite side. 1v1 Sprints during the break periods as shown on next screen.
Organization: Both teams are in a 4-3-3 formation missing their wingers.
Space: 60m length and full width with two small goals on either end of the field.
Time: 3x 6min sets with 3 min rest in between. 1v1 with sprints during the rest period
Explanation:
8v8 game. Both teams are defending two small goals and attacking the opposite small goals. If a team scores after a switch, the goal counts double.
Coach manages the teams defensively to create different problems:
Block 2 problem: The coach manages the teams defending to man mark in the middle by having the line of 3 midfielders man-marking the 3 center mids of the team in possession.
Block 3 problem: Coach manages team defending to sit deeper to make it harder to find space behind
Key Points:
Focus in possession:
Make pitch big by providing full width with FB and length with CF
Movement of the CM to be open to receive and switch fast, especially the pivot
CB giving good options for the pass back and aim quick long switches
Movement of the striker to receive and serve as the player who can switch the field to other side
Good driven cross technique for the long switch
Ability of the FB to receive with good first touch and move forward quickly before opponent's shift
Opposition team red (managed).
Correct pressure and cover
Shifting quick after switch
Marking CM players who can serve as connectors for the switch
Sitting deeper allowing Cb on the ball but without giving space in behind

1v1 Soccer Sprints with Maximum Speed
Organization: 1v1 with the coach passing the ball forward and players going to win possession and scoring
Space: Player starts on the half field to allow for long distance speed
Time: 2 sets of 2 repetitions at the break of the inter-sectorial game
Key Points: Reaction to start sprint quickly
Use body to protect the ball
Finish under pressure from behind

9v9 + GK +neutral CM Collective Game: Switching the field in the attacking half
Organization: Both teams in a 4-3-3 formation missing a CM
Field is split in 3 vertical fields. If a team scores after switching the field from one side of the field to the other the goal counts double.
Space: 70m x 55m with 2 big goals
Time: 3x 8 min sets with 3 min rest in between sets
Explanation:
Coach manages the teams off the ball to create different problems:
Block 2 problem: Higher press from team defending, to not allow the first pass wide.
Block 3 problem: Lower block from defending team and man-marking in the middle
Key Points:
In possession:
Positional Coverage of the field to open up passing lanes
Speed of play
Full Back and winger don't be in the same vertical line unless opponent is high pressing
If opponent defending deep rotations with Full Back and Winger to create space
Movement to receive in open space
Open body shape when receiving to be able to switch quicker
Driven cross to opposite side when switching
Receive with a good first touch forward after the switch to exploit the space
If winger receives from a switch try to take the 1v1 and cut inside for a shot
Out of possession:
Defend as a compact unit
Leave furthest player when ball is on one side
Make play predictable by marking key players and only leave open less dangerous player for the switch
Pressure/ cover / balance
Speed and angle of the press

Position Specific Work
Organization and Explanation: The exercise has 4 sequences:
1) Play starts with GK playing the ball for the Center Mid who needs to make a first touch pass/header to the three forwards and they go on a 3v2 situation to goal.
2) One full back passes to CM who needs to make a driven ball to the opposite side full back who makes a run and sends a cross for the 3 forwards to finish.
3) Coach on the endline sends a pass to Cm in air who makes a run and has to make a long-range shot. (if ball is cleared from the cross than CM takes that shot instead.
4) Coach on the endline makes a pass to the forwards for a reactionary finish.
Time: 4 sets of 4 repetitions with 1 minute break between each set. About 10-15 seconds between reps to go back to initial positions.
Coaching Points: The focus on this session are the center midfielder, the 2 wingers and the center forward. Based on their IDP below are the coaching points we will focus on.
Center Mid: 1) Aerial domination, directional pass in the air; 2) Switch of the field with driven ball; 3) Long range shotting technique;
Wingers: 1) Positional rotation to unbalance defenders, if ball received wide make correct decision depending on forwards movement, cut inside to shoot, wall pass, or penetrative pass, ability to take defender 1v1; 2) during cross closest winger attacks the center the further the 2nd post; 3) Quick reaction to finish 1 touch
Forwards: 1) Receive with back to goal, positional rotation to open space and unbalance defenders; make diagonal run if ball goes to one of the wingers to try to open central space, make timed run in behind if opponent gives space; 2) Timing to attack the ball from the cross, make run on near post; 3) Reaction to finish fast (1-touch)

Passing Activation (15 mins)
Passing Activation with Speed Endurance preparation After a 10 min dynamic warm up
Organization: Positions on the field similar to formation:
4-3-3 with 2 CB ; FB ; CM on either side
Space: Half of the field with spacing similar to the full field
Time: 2 min each side then change direction
Explanation: 3 variations as shown on screen
3rd variation the players decide if they will do the 1st or 2nd
On the follow through run big strides and increase the run from 50 - 80% to prepare for maximum sprints on the next activity
Coaching Points: Quality of passes with appropriate speed and accuracy despite the distance
Timing to open up from the mannequin to receive the ball
Communication and decision-making on the 3rd variation
