Block Defending - Build Block of 8 (coming from block of 7+1)
8+GK vs 6 + 2 Wide players
One full size goal and two counter/mini goals (set mini goals 5 yards behind midfield line)
Longer bouts with defending working at high intensity but, without over committing.
Opponents playing with 3 forwards, 3 midfielder (two attacking) and right and left backs.
Objective
Defending from block of 7+1 to Block of 8
Midfield line will play on a flat shape to cover more ground
Find the quick counterattack when regain ball playing forward into the counter/mini goals
Introduction of #6 dropping as a center back WHEN opponents attacking deep into the channels and we will be defending our goal.
CP's
#10 needs to drop back to creat the flat line (No matter in what position but, important to get in shape quick.
Keep forcing opponents to play wide and create up numbers defensively
Outside mids #7/8 supporting to finish in the counter goals
Look to play forward as soon as we gain the ball and try to score in the counter goals.
#6 dropping as a center back WHEN opponents attacking deep into the channels and we will be defending our goal.

Organization - Defending team trying to stay compact with block defending.
Coaching Pts:
-Back four stay together and always communicate with midfielders.
- Defending Mid: Push to press to create block of 3 with outside mids (block of 7 +1 ).
- ATM: Drop in to create Diamond to the ball side or drop into line to make line of 4 (block of 8)
- Defend the ball/move to pressure first touch/move feet to keep pressure on ball/patience to steal/Parallel runs with ball movement to squeeze and pressure!/Communication: left/right shoulder

Objective - Back four and midfielders work together to stay compact and organized to build the defending block of 7 and 8 (4-3-1/4-4) in the defensive half. #10 will be the one dropping in to the double #6 position (another option is to play with two #6 in a box midfield shape)
