14 players - 2 goal keepers, 2 defenders & 10 attackers

Activity

Working on penetration and looking for a penetrating pass into the striker.

To start it will be 4 attackers v 2 defenders plus goal keeper.

Centre Midfielder will play the ball into the striker who will then bounce the ball back to the centre mid.

The striker will then peel off angling his run for the centre mid to play a penetrating pass.

Wide attackers will also support if the pass into the striker is not on and will give another option.

As attacking centre mid plays first pass into the striker a recovering midfielder will go in and try and help the defender.

If the defenders win the ball they try and score into one of the two small sided goals.

Coaching Points

Striker come in short to link up with centre mid

Centre mid passing onto strikers safe side

Communication whether to hold the ball up and take a touch or bounce back first time

Once bounced back from striker drive at defender creating 2v1

Striker spin off creating and angle and into space for a pass from centre mid

Game Related Activity (5 mins)

Organisation

1/4 of a pitch split into 3rds

End zones 25 metre each

14 players 7v7 reds set up in a 1-2-3 formation blue set up in a 1-4-1 formation

Activity

When the team in possession gets the ball across the half way line the last player (defender) must squeeze up the game and come out past their defensive 3rd.

This condition allows space to allow a penetrating pass or dribble in behind.

Strikers also can't go into the defensive 3rd they must only go between middle and attacking 3rd.

Once the ball goes into the attacking 3rd for the reds one midfielder may aslo go in and help the attack.

1 midfielder from the blues may go in and help creating 4 v 2 like bedding in.

Progression - Both red centre midfielders may go in to attack plus 3 blue midfielder to create 5 v 4

Look to counter attack quickly when winning possession back (transition from defence to attack)
