Dimond Passing Pattern

Objective - Improve passing, receiving, and movement of the ball 

In this activity, players pass and move while keeping angles and keeping shape. 

For players to effectively complete the pattern they must communicate keep their bodies facing the ball and move quickly. 

The passes are numbered to display how many passes it takes to complete one transition. 5 passes complete the first phase once the opposite side receives the ball. 

Coaching Points -Receive with Body Open, move to the ball and give an angle, Receive on the back foot, control the weight of your  pass, stay on tempo, push the tempo  

More Challenging - 

1. Once the players understand the pattern then challenge them as a team to see how man complete rotations than can get in a minute 

2. Start a stopwatch and see how long the players can go playing 2 touches without mistakes give them 3 tries to set a high score

Q1 Why do we want to move to the ball? A1 We can play quicker and keep possession and  we can play quicker

Q2 Why is it important to play the ball on diagonals? A2 These types of passes help keep possession and open up space 

Q3 What is tempo? -A3 Tempo is the speed and rhythm that a group can play in.  We want everyone on the same tempo when building up possession or keeping possession or attacking because then we are all playing at the same speed and we are more effective as a team.
