Organizational / Instructions - (Warm-up) - Jogging/Short sprints, dynamic stretching, dribbling with the ball reacting to commands.
(1 - Footwork) - Variety of directions on the ladder with sharp feet while getting player to respond to cone colour to ensure heads up. Add 1 2 passes at the end of the ladders then backwards jog to beginning and repeat. Outside left inside left outside right inside right dribbling to top of the cones trying to get faster each time (time trial). Types of ladder movements include (two-foot forwards, two-foot sideways, two-foot forward diagonals, two-foot backwards diagonals, two-foot in & out, single foot in & out, lateral in & out, hip twist in & out.)
(2 - Passing /Receiving) start of with straight passes 2 touch then progress to one touch passes. Check of 10 yards diagonally from the green cone then take a touch inside and play a pass through the 4 cones. Do the same with the blue cones, work on ground passing and lobbed passing. Move on to receiving the ball and play different weighted passes influencing the player to control the ball within their zone. Progress this with lofted balls controlling with the chest and thigh. Move on to 1st touch out of either the blue gate or green gate then playing a pass into the mini-goals. Do the same with throws. Lastly do receiving on the half turn either blue or green cone and dribble around the outside orange for that colour and dribble back into the middle.
(3 - Dribbling) dribbling with left on red, both on blue, and right on green, I will be lifting cones up to demand the switch and the player need to recognise when to switch. Once they reach the top its a shuffle backwards with a 1 2 then their off again.
(4 - Finishing) Playing bounce passes until I shout SPIN! the players spins off on the outside then aims for the goal and shoots. After this we do the same with the bounce passes but then when I shout Inside the player takes a positive touch out the feet to the inside and a finish with the opposite foot.
Cool down is simple some light jogging into a walk followed with static stretches. A session debrief will be took with the player afterwards noting down points learned from the session with strengths to improve as well as areas for improvement.
