Playing Through The Thirds

Passing and Receiving 1
Divide the players into groups of 4, 5 or 6.
Each group places out a number of cones equal to 1 more than the number of players in the group.
Each player starts on a cone with one cone spare.
One ball per group.
Players pass the ball amongst themselves. As soon as a player has played his pass he sprints to the vacant cone.
Coaching Points:
Passes must be firm and accurate.
Control the ball with the sole of the foot and in the same motion move the ball out from their feet and into a position where it can be passed to a team mate.

Passing and Receiving 2
Remove one of the cones so that now the number of cones equals the number of players in the group.
2 balls per group.
One player start in the middle and receives a pass from one of the players in possession of a ball. The passing player now sprints to the vacant cone, as before.
The middle player now plays the ball to one of the players without a ball.
The middle player now receives a pass from the player with the other ball and the process restarts etc.
Swap the player in the middle after a couple of minutes.
Coaching Points:
Middle player needs to be aware of which players have a ball and which don't.
