Organisation

- 16 outfied players (9 blue, 8 red and 1 GK)
- Blue - 1-2-4-2 (Working with blue team)
- Red - 1-4-3-1
- Ball starts with red GK who look to start build up from goal kick.
Practice
- Red team look to build up from a goal kick and play into one of the mini goals
- Blue's look to press and look to score on regain
Timings
- 2 minute framing of the session including walkthrough.
- 3 x 8 minutes work
- 3 x 2 min rest (Terminal Interventions)
- Total time = 30 minutes
Conditions
- Upon winning possession, blue team have 6 passes to score
Rules
- If blue's exceed 6 passes, ball dead play from GK or ball from coach
- Red's - Score on GK = 2 Point / Finish into goal = 1 points
- Blue's - Win the ball and score within 6 passes = 1 Point

CBs - Opposite side (middle CB) touch tight on opposition ST. Ball side wide CB
FBs - High and wide, above line of opposition STs
CMs (8) - On the inside shoulder of opposition CM (Protect the middle, force wide)
LM & RM - Width of the 18 yard box, starting half and half, screening ball into mini goals(winger). Invite pass to opposition FB which is the trigger to press
ST - High, narrow, screening ball into opposition 6, pivot press(Corner of the D)
In Possession
Starting Positions - Red Team
GK - Start centre of 6 yard box
CBs - Corner of the 6 yard box, ready to receive back foot and play
DM (6) - Beyond the line of ST
CMs (8) - On the outside shoulder of opposition CM, beyond their line
ST - High, pinning opposition CBs

Solution
Ball side ST press opposition CB, other ST drop to screen opposition 6 (Pivot Press)
What If?
Strikers get split?
Solution
Closest ST HAS to put pressure on from behind, midfield narrow to protect middle.
What if?
Wing back jumps to early to press and gets played around?
Solution
WB press from behind, depending where on the pitch, either outside 8 or outside CB apply pressure on ball. Rest of the team shuffle to lock to one side. Opposite WB tuck in as a FB
Coaching Points - Out of Possession (Focus)
CBs - Middle CB touch tight on opposition ST, inside shoulder. Outside CB, half and half to screen mini goals
8's - Inside shoulder to protect the middle of the pitch and encourage ball wide into FB
LM - Hold position, invite ball into FB, as soon as the ball is played, trigger to press aggressively
RM - Narrow in, half way between 6 yard box and 18 yard box
ST - Start narrow. Ball side ST press, opposite ST screen 6.
In Possession
- Wingers on touchline to create width, look to pin opposition FB
- STs high, create depth. Pin opposition CBs
- 8s play on the outside shoulder of opposite 8s
Attacking Transition
- Secure first pass
- Look to play forward fast
Defensive Transition
- React - 6 seconds or less
- Force backwards if possible
- After 6 seconds drop into out of possession shape

What if?
Opposition 6 pulls ball side to evade pivot press
Solution
ST only follow to half way across pitch, if CB looks like they are going to play 6, 8 HAS to jump and press and look to screen player behind.
What if?
When 8 jumps to press, ball played to opposition 8 beyond.
Solution
WB to press and show inside to discourage ball outside to FB, rest of team shuffle to fill gaps.
Coaching Points - Out of Possession (Focus)
CBs - Middle CB touch tight on opposition ST, inside shoulder. Outside CB, half and half to screen mini goals
8's - Inside shoulder to protect the middle of the pitch and encourage ball wide into FB. Furthest 8 cover 6 if 6 gets pulled wide to stop long ball
LM - Hold position, invite ball into FB.
RM - Narrow in, half way between 6 yard box and 18 yard box. Stay connected to midfield unit.
ST - Start narrow. Ball side ST press, opposite ST screen 6.
In Possession

What if?
Opposition manage to switch the ball.
Solution
WB jump and press CB whilst screening pass into FB. IF WB is not in the position to press, 8 jump to press while ST applies pressure from behind.
Coaching Points - Out of Possession (Focus)
CBs - Middle CB touch tight on opposition ST, inside shoulder. Outside CB, half and half to screen mini goals
8's - Inside shoulder to protect the middle of the pitch (Width of 6 yard box) and encourage ball wide into FB.
LM - Hold position, narrow in line with the 18 yard box about half way between goal and half way line.
RM - Hold position, narrow in line with the 18 yard box about half way between goal and half way line.
ST - Start narrow. Pivot press, remain narrow to screen opposition 6.
In Possession
- Wingers on touchline to create width, look to pin opposition FB
- STs high, create depth. Pin opposition CBs
- 8s play on the outside shoulder of opposite 8s
