Screen 1 (40 mins)

Strength loading day 5 x 5 minutes, intense. 3 mins rest No game at the weekend so looking to be tough session

Concurrent coaching and opportunity to coach in between blocks. Walk throughs in between if needed. Step in and coach any main points to break up heavy loading if necessary.

Transition game focussing on wingers link up play and delivery in the final third.

Full backs must stay in their channels, wingers stay in channel as well until receive the ball then they have decision to make.

Play always starts from keepers. No corners or throws, you start from your own keeper.

Ball must be worked wide in to one of the channels before a goal can be scored

All players are live but when in possession of the ball in highest channel the opposition wingers become inactive to allow 2 v1 in attacking half of channel, (replicates a winger switching off in a game)

Wingers can decide to slide full back for a cross, cross early themselves or take first touch inside to create 3 v 2 against CBs.

Offside lines in play to make sure defenders do not get on top of the keeper and create space for crosses.

Coaching points.

In possession wingers high and wide, out of possession can they cut the pass off to the opposition winger from CBs/ GK

Full backs getting too high too early reducing space for themselves and winger.

On transition FB will be out of position can they drive at CBs to create 3v2 or cross early.

In to out, can they react and win ball back before play reaches opposition winger.

Relative to Sunday performance...how? Explain during walk through.

Block 1 - Wide men all stay in channels, 2 options, overlap or cross

(detail, cross in behind CBs, weight of pass on overlap, types of cross?)

Block 2 - 3 options, overlap, cross, drive inside

(detail, look for bounce pass? Can 9 stay high and engage CBs and 10 come from opposite side to set winger for shot? Or slip 9 in behind CBs

Block 3 - 2 touches in the channels for wingers, encourages quicker play, this is vital anyway if the decision is to cross, too many touches sometimes. If first or second touch is inside then its free play. No need for lots of touches in these situations with overloads.

Block 4/5 still channels and play must go wide to score, unless ball won on transition can score with 1 pass max. more than likely play will then include winger more often than not with opportunity to coach, free play, setting problems.

Block 4 problem, Play always starts with opposition. Defensive role of winger, were set up in a 3-4-1..They set up in a 2-4-2 to overload the middle of the pitch which gives us a advantage of 2 v 1 in wide areas, however problem being there are so many passing lines throughout the centre. Emphasise previous coaching points of wingers narrowing right off to stop play straight in to CFs and force play wide to their only wide man. (Also a problem from Sunday to many split passes inside winger.

Block 5 problem, Play starts with both teams, They match us in a 3-3-2 and go man for man. How can wingers react, good movement, decision making, less touches, 1,2s.

To play out if struggling, Right back rotates round to CB, both split, RW comes down in to FB area, everyone high and wide. Can CM spin out leaving space for a wide man to roll inside? Quick play, 1 v1 now with space and 2 strikers to play off. Wingers playing on opposite sides can they go round corner first time in to strikers?

Practice design will help improve decision making and give more options to our wingers who can play on both sides, eg Tai, Luis Ed, Ethan.

Also designed to help them keep more width as a starting point, i.e. Luis Ed from Sunday
