Setup:
Groups of 5 (or more)
8x8 grid (possibly reduce if too much success)
Activity:
Defenders must start on 1 of 4 cones and cannot move until ball is passed.
Defenders have to go back to different cone between each rep.
Center Midfielder works in middle and tries to maintain possession by either turning and playing across or playing back where ball was passed from.
Coaching Points:
~ Working on half turn to find pressure
~ Receive across body with farthest foot
~ On turn, take first touch away from pressure
~ Passers: Can you use deception to buy time?
Progression: Add a 3rd defender

Intervals:
4 min work + 1 min rest x 3 reps = 15 min
Setup:
Large grid in midfield: 40x60
Smaller grid inside: 15x15
1 team of 6
1 team of setup as shown in positions
Activity:
Team of 6 starts with ball inside little grid. 10 passes = goal.
3 defenders try to win ball back and once they do they connect with their teammates in larger grid where it's 8v6. 10 passes = goal.
Coaching Points:
~ Once ball is won, play simple in the way you face to break pressure.
~ Playing ball side to side to connect 10 passes
~ 8/10 moving to weakside between defenders (find pockets)

Intervals:
3 min work + 1 min rest x 6 reps = 24 min
Setup:
2 teams setup in formation as shown.
Each team has 2 wide players that can't be tackled (limited to 2 touch).
Field is in midfield: 40x60
4 small goals facing away from middle (towards sidelines)
Activity:
Each team can score in any of the 4 goals.
Coaching Points:
~ When winning posession, 1 or 2 touch to get away from pressure
~ When winning posession, play the way you face
~ 8/10 moving opposite the ball for 15 yard pass instead of 8 yards

Intervals:
5 min work + 1 min rest x 3 reps = 18 min
Setup:
Large field (70x60) with midfield area (30x60)
2 teams of 7 with GK
Each team has a collection of 5 balls on sideline.
Activity:
Ball starts in midfield throw-in and must be dribbled past across endline before going to goal (line acts as offside line).
Progression:
After both teams use their 5 balls each remove restrictions and just play.
Coaching Points:
~ Possess vs Penetrate when winning possession
~ Cues of when to penetrate (numbers even or up)
~ Cues of when to possess (numbers down) --> Change point of attack
