Field Space: 70 yards wide x 100 yards length

Field: Attacking Half

Player Actions: Controlling, Protecting, Driving, Passing.

 Identified Game Situation: 

What:

  •  #5 and/or #4 have possession of the ball from a pass back provided by #6 and are unable to progress forward and/or identify new passing options to advance the ball forward to attack when under pressure.

Where:

  • Mid 1/3 Central  to Attacking 1/3 Central

Who:

  • Focus Team: #5,4,#6 VS Opponent: #9, #10

When:

  • #5 is receiving the ball from #6 and under pressure from #9 and identifying passing options to break the first defensive line and attempting to advance to attack

Why:

  • Due to #5, and #4 inability to remain composed on the ball, identify supporting player #6, due to the high pressure executed by the first defensive line of opponents #9 and #10, therefore players are unable to find a free player between or behind the lines to advance the attack.

Warm-up

Learning Activity: Non-Game Form

Activity Objective: Enhance the players' technical ability in passing and receiving. Warm up the body and mind un-opposed 

#Players/Opponent: 10 players/0 opponents 

Space/Dimensions: Two grids: 35 yards width x 40 Yards Lenght (as shown in the diagram)

Duration: Work 5 minutes/45-seconds Recovery/ 2 sets

Constraints: 1-2 touches Max

Method of Scoring: Competition mode: The team to complete the passing sequence faster gets 1 point. 

Coaching interactions: Elevate the level of execution by commanding players to execute clean sharp passes on the ground with the proper weight on the pass. Support the player by praising them for executing clean sharp passes on the ground. Provided feedback /Demo on technical execution(Entry, Execution, Exit).

Activity 1

Learning Activity: Modified Game

Activity Objective:  Enhance the opponents' ability to regain possession of the ball as urgently as possible by executing synchronized high pressing in order to create a problem for the focus team to advance and break the line going forward. If the focus team, is able to advance to attack, Commands will be provided to secondary players from opponents red team (#6, #2, #4, #5, #3) to stay compact and keep it compact).

Space/Dimensions: 70 yards width  x 50 yards length

Duration: 5-minutes /4 Rounds/45-second recovery

Constraints: Focus Team: #5, #4, #6 VS Opponent: #10,#9 in 3v2 Grid of 25 yards x 30 yards. Open play after the focus team completes 2 passes.

 

Method of scoring: Focus team: #5,#4,#6 can advance after completing 2 passes in the 3v2 grid. If the opponent regains possession of the ball, they can score on any mini goal placed in the Mid1/3.

Coaching/Interactions: Commanding Opponent #9,#10(red team) to High press. Utilize the trigger command  "Hunt the ball".  If focus team is able to break the first defensive line (#9,#10) Commands will be provided to main train the second defensive line to stay compact, and keep it compact.

Activity 2

Learning Activity: Game Form

Activity Objective:  Maximize the momentum of the play by having #5, #4, and #6 attract the opponent's first defensive line by creating diagonal passing lanes in order to break the line to advance to the attacking 1/3.

# of Players/Opp: 15 players/ 8 Opponents

Space/Dimensions: 70 yards width x 50 yards length

Duration: 5-minutes /4 Rounds/45-second recovery

Constraints: If the ball goes out Focus Team; #5, #4, #6, #10, #7, #9, #11 initiates the play. If Opponent Red Team wins the ball, they can score in any Mini goal placed in the Mid 1/3

 

Method of scoring: Focus team: #5,#4, and #6 can advance to attack and break the first defensive line after completing 2 passes in the 3v2 grid. If opponents #9, and #10 regain possession of the ball, they can score on any mini goal placed in the Mid1/3.

Coaching/Interactions: 

Support the players by asking guided questions. 

Can we play wide? Can we identify a passing pocket in between the defensive lines? 

Can we create a diagonal passing angle in order to break the line and advance? 

Elevate the level of execution by commanding players to apply the proper weight of the pass to maximize the momentum of the play when in possession. 

Clean sharp passes. 

Learning interactions: Coaching on the flow facilitate players on the flow to think about the width and offer dynamic mobility off the ball.

Activity Objective: Sit back and analyze if the information transferred to the game

# Players/ Opponents: 22 Players/11 Opponents

Space/Dimensions: 80 yards Width X 100 Yards Lenght

Duration: 30 minutes

Constraints: No constraints

Method Of Scoring: FIFA Laws Apply

Coaching/Interactions: Guided questions: Can we identify diagonal passing lanes to break the line and advance? Can we switch the point of attack to the weak zone of the opponent? Can identify numerical advantages down the flanks?

  • Can we identify passing options to maximize momentum, and velocity in order to break the opponent's defensive line, and find the deepest player in the attacking 1/3? (#9)

  • Keep track of KPIs in the focus team. How many times was #9 able to receive the ball from #10 and identify passing options that #7 and #11 offer in order to exploit the space behind the defensive line
