Football/Soccer Session (Beginner): Nuts & Squirrels

Organization: 30 x 30 area with 4 large cones in each corner (different color; if possible). This will represent their "Tree". Have no more than 3 players at each "Tree". Add more trees if needed.

Instruction: Players play the first round with no soccer balls. Players are the squirrels and they run to the middle from each team (1 at a time), get 1 cone and dribble it back to their tree. They high five their teammate and then the next person goes. The game continues until all the cones are gone. On the second round add a soccer ball, so they must dribble. 

Progressions: They must dribble a ball to the middle and stop it before grabbing a cone; then dribble back to their tree and pass the ball to their teammate. 

• Players must do a specific skill after getting a cone from the middle (a turn or a skill). Can they do a pull back turn before dribble back to their tree.
• Instead of cones in the middle, use soccer balls and player must perform a turn or skill when retrieving the soccer ball before dribbling back to their tree.
• After balls are all gone from the middle they may all (all players may go no one stays at home) go and steal from other teams (teams and not allowed to defend) everyone just goes and steals!!! 30 seconds of stealing.
