Pre season - Physical & technical (3)
- This is the third of three physical & technical sessions for pre seson, the physical emement is to get you working to your maximum fitness & endurance. The technical side is short and sharp work so give it maximum tempo and sharpness will be the end product. Technical emphasis on dribbling and the physical emphasis on SAQ ( Speed and Quickness)
- Speed & Dribbling are very interrelated topics
Objective: To get players ready physically, mentally, technically & tactically while achieving better game sharpness through quick combination play and 1 + 2 touch football.
Players, key points/goals to consider and achieve for the physical & technical sharpness sessions:
1) Focus on the quality of your passes & touches
2) Maximise your work rate
3) Recovery runs & winning the ball back quickly
4) Playing combinations quickly
5) Be comfortable to play off 1&2 touch

Dribbling in tight areas & explosion
Description - One team starts by positioning themselves around the square with a football & the other team inside with the footballs, the excersise has a few progressions but the overall emphasis is on when dribbling in the middle dont let the ball roll & avoid the red cones, once you see a free man on the outside, explode into the space and they take your space.
Players, key points:
1) Chin up & constantly scan the area
2) Use of both feet is essential
3) Use all your changes of direction
4) When somebody is free, explode into their space with big & controlled touches

Passing combinations -endurance & quality
Description - The Barcelona star pattern, all one touch emphasis with movement onstantly. The pattern changes, but overall it remains the same.
Players, Key points:
1) Maximum intensity 110%
2) Dont cheat the cones, do it right
3) Quality of pass, when to give it to feet, when to play a yard in front etc.

3v3 - Dribbling emphasis
Description: Players again are split into two teams, the blue team (in diagram) have to dribble through the blue gates to score, the red team to score have to dribble through the red gates. The yellow gates will be included further into the exercise.
Players, key points:
1) Dribbling emphasis, so speed first to score
2) If speed isnt an option, use combinations & 1v1 to make dribbling space
3) Head up constantly looking to dribble into the scoring zones & where space is
4) Switch play to create another attacking channell

SSG - Dribble before shooting
Description - A SSG with a dribbling emphasis, players split into two teams, each must score by dribbling into the shaded area or scoring zone like player 1 and then scoring, only onedefender can follow him into the scoring area and players cant stand in the scoring zone unless they have dribbled in or they are chasing down the attacker who dribbled in.
Players, key points:
1) Use fast passing & combos to give players the space to dribble into
2) Explode into the scoring zone when the chance is on.
3) Be patient, work the ball till the time s right
4) Constantly switch play to create new attacking chanels
5) Give 110% tempo

Description - A dribbling into space emphasis where players are split into two teams and work in two seperate grids, when the coach blows the whistle players dribble into the opposite square, the excersise has a few progressions throughout
Players, key points:
1) Chin up constantly scanning the area
2) Constant use of both feet & every part of the foot
3) When switching grids - Big controlled touches, explode in quickly
4) When in the grid - Not as much space, when tight, every step take a touch
