Welsh way principles
Key Principle: Depends on numbers
Creating and Exploiting Overloads (In Possession) - Understand when and how to exploit a numerical advantage against the opposition.
Sub Principle:
Defend the Overload (Out of Possession) - Understand when and how to deal with numerical advantages the opposition have.
Organisation
Explanation
The coached team will look to create and exploit overloads before scoring, while the non-coached team will look at defending the overload. The team in possession can use the neutral No.10 player (when the Blues are in possession they have a 9v7 advantage, but when the reds are in possession they are 8v8). Once a team has scored play restarts with the Blue's Goalkeeper.
The SSG will reflect the 11v11 game, in terms of restarts like throw-ins, corners and goal kicks will be taken as normal.
Conditions, Challenges & Targets
Condition- Players can move freely, but the team in possession must always occupy both the wide channels.
Condition- Only the team in possession can have multiple players in the wide channels.
Challenge- The team in possession to create overloads in the final 3rd by committing players forward.
