Set Up
2v2s
Attakers are encouraged to combine or use clever movement of team mate to dribble in space created.
Defenders are now taught the principles of working together in transition.
-Pressure
-Cover
Orange cones either end are for the defenders retreat line they as soon as they see the attackers coming they go live.
Key Points
Same principles as the 1v1s in terms of the 4 Ds
- Delay their speed of attack, engaging the ball and limiting their options
- Deny - Body Shape should now "Direct" attackers to your partner who is covering you within a good distance (approx 4 yards)
- Disposess then comes from either the pressing player or the covering player.
This Principle repeats itself if the attacker gets past 1st player, they then should give their team mate cover as they will be pressing the ball
1st player that reacts, goes to pressure the ball
2nd player provides cover

1st player presses the ball
2nd player provides cover
3rd player gives balance to unit
prinicple of the 3rd player
- be able to give cover to second player, at the same time seeing the ball and oncoming attacking players.
- communicate with 2nd player to ensure distance of cover is correct
- positioning to view and account for oncoming players incase a pass is made. always ready to react
The roles between players 1,2 and 3 can always change and alternate so its important that players understand each role and are ready and focused to pick up the given role as quickly as possible to avoid attacking opportunities for opposition.
