GAME SITUATION: SSG-20mins
Each team has: GK, 5 outfield players. 2 neutral FBs wait by the side of each goal as shown in the diagram.
Two full backs enter the pitch and play with the team in possession of the ball.
If goal is scored, FBs leave the pitch and allow 2 resting FBs to enter the pitch and play.
The rule allows the team in possession to have 7 v 5 overload and emphasises the advantage of having 2 attacking full backs.
It also allows FBs to have full energy and not to be tired early in the game.
The team that scores more goals wins.
After 10 mins play equal numbers with normal rules applying.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Players learn the role of the attacking full back.
Tell players that the session is about:
1. Using attacking fullbacks.
2. Increasing width in attack
3. Using wide areas to create goal scoring opportunities.
Role of modern fullback:
Should have similar attributes to a midfielder- receive and pass the ball with accuracy.
Should have similar attributes to a wide attacker- - able to dribble or run with the ball to beat defenders, and cross the ball to attackers in the box.
Bundles of energy to run up and down the length of the pitch.
Security in defending and extra attacking option.
SESSION- SCREEN 1: Warm-up
Players work on passing and receiving
FBs always start with forward pass to wide player and run inside or outside to receive a return pass and cross to the strikers in the box. Strikers run to- one near post and the other back post, no 10 in the 6 yard box.
