Progression
Players on both pitches now combine to form a single game. The aim is for the possession players to score points by transferring the play from one half to the other via a pass.
The active half should have 2 pressers. There will be a further press positioned on the half way line monitoring the play and ready to intercept a pass across the half way line. A further presser in waiting who becomes active when possession is lost or play transfers to the other half.
Play automatically resets from the opposite half when possession is lost – the player responsible for losing possession picks up a bib from the nearest pressing player (who now transfers to possession team) and assumes the waiting role. The remaining presser from the active half assumes the half way line role
Coaching points
Emphasis still remains on quick pressure on the ball to force mistakes, but now also with the objective of trying to protect the space and not allowing play to transfer across halves.
The presser positioned on the half way line needs to support the active pressers by moving to close off the space (or even by springing a trap).

Set upFor 10 players, two adjacent playing areas, each c10m x c10m. Each pitch will have a possession team and opposing pressers - the pressers will be identifiable by holding bibs (in order they can quickly dynamically change roles).Game initially starts with 3 v 1 on one pitch & 3v2 on the other, with a further pressing player queued up waiting.
When possession is lost, the pressing player that has forced the mistake (or is closest to the ball) drops their bib and becomes a member of the possession team. The player that is responsible for losing possession picks up the bib and transfers to the waiting role. The player currently in the waiting role transfers to pressing the ball on the pitch where there is currently only one presser (ie typically possession will be lost on the pitch where there are two pressers and so each pitch will dynamically switch between having 1 and 2 pressers
Coaching points
The focus of the session is on the pressing players.
Pressing players should be encouraged to press quickly as the best chance of recovering possession is to apply sharp pressure on the ball to force mistakes. Particular emphasis to quick pressure on the ball for players transitioning from waiting roles.
As play progresses and pressers should develop an approach whereby the press in a combined manner – eg not two players pressing the ball – and possibly even leading to communicating, directing with each other
