Football/Soccer Session (Beginner): EDP Dribbling 1
Description
This week we are focusing on dribbling. At the beginning of practice we will have a chat about how to dribble/what players need to think about:
-Finding space, keeping your head up, small touches, NOT USING YOUR TOE, different speeds...
Please remind your players of these principles throughout your station!

Tic tac toe:
1. Set up the cones as shown in the video. a 3 x 3 grid, a small square of two differing colors in front of the 3 x 3, a starting cone for each team, and a pile of comes for each team in the color corresponding to the small box color.
2. Each team will have 1 ball and work as a team. The first player will grab a cone of their color in their hand, take the ball, dribble into the square of their color and stop the ball leaving it in the square
3. The player will then place their color cone on top of one of the cones in the tic tac toe grid
4. The player will then go back to the square, get their ball and dribble all the way back to the line where the next player will go
5. First team to get tic tac toe wins
Make it Harder: larger distances between the grid or between the start of the line and the box. Allow them to stack cones until someone wins if all the spots have already been filled and nobody has won.
Make it Easier: make everything closer together. Have a coach stand in the tic tac toe board helping them choose where to place their cones.

Octopus
Set Up
- Area set up about 30m x 25m (area can be increased or decreased dependant on how many players there are).
- All players line up at one end with a ball; with a defender in the middle. (Number of defenders can be increased depending on the number of players)
Objective
- Once the defender calls "Octopus", the objective is then for the players to dribble with the ball from point A to point B without losing possession of the ball. The objective for the defender is to tackle a player and get their ball out of the area.
- If they are tackled by the defender and lose the ball out of the area then they become 'seaweed' and are fixed to the spot they lost the ball.
- If the player makes it to the end they go to the next round, which on the defenders call they travel from point B to point A
- The 'seaweed' is now an obstacle for the players in possession and can tackle any players that come into reach.
- This continues until the last player remains who is the winner.
- Rotate the starting defender each round.

Dribbling Relay Races:
1. Split the group up into even numbers with ~3 players per team
2. Place each group in front of simple dribbling obstacles (shown above is just a line of cones to serpentine through, but imagination can be used here)
3. One player from each group goes at a time dribbling through the course. The next player goes when the previous one dribbles all the way back to the start
4. First team to finish wins
NOTE: If you have uneven numbers have players from the group with fewer players go more than once. Have players use different parts of their foot to complete the obstacle course.

Bulldogs:
1. Create a pile of balls outside of a square. All players except two (bulldogs) run around in a square with no ball
2. Bulldogs (in red) have balls and enter the square trying to hit players (in blue) below the knee.
3. If a player is hit they become a bulldog and get a ball from the pile.
4. The last player standing wins (usually will be the bulldog in the next round)
