Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): U9/10 Winter Skill Centre - Session #11 (Turning) (Start Time: 2024-01-08 17:15:00)

Technical (Unopposed) - Turning Around a Box (15 mins)

Turning before the Defender (treat the cone as a defender)

Players dribble between 2 cones

At each cone they work a turn and continue the same movement up and down working on their technique and protecting the ball from the other player and cone (defender) ex. player on your right, keep ball on left foot and turn away from defender

Turns (Depending on skill level of group):

  - inside hook

  - outside hook

  - drag back

  - pull back

  - stop turn

  - step over

  - L turn

  - Cruyff

  - sole roll, outside hook 

Details:

- Turn with a big touch to get away from defender (cone)

- Protect ball before the turn - Transfer feet ie. player on your right, keep ball on left foot

- Check shoulder before turning

- Send eyes to the ball

- Disguise/deception on the turn

Technical (Unopposed) - Everton Diamond (15 mins)

Player 1 passes to player 2 (who started this by checking away and then checking to the ball, then checking their shoulder, fixing their shape and receiving on the half turn)

Player 2 takes a positive touch up the pitch, check their outside shoulder, works a turn and then passes back to player 1

If you have a 5th player, use that player as a cm option to play a give and go to get out the other way. If you have only 4 players then as the ball comes back to player 1, simply take it out the other side.

Same movement happens on the opposite side to player 3 and then when the ball comes back to player 1 we look to switch the pitch to player 4 on the other side.

Once the ball is with player 4 the same plan works again on the other side.
