an opportunity for players to understand different skills in a 1v1

Where?

in any 3rd on the pitch

Why?

players are not confident in turning skills, to encourage imagination on turning skills

players that showcase good skills -

  • defenders - Virgil Van Dijk when turning away from an attacker who is pressing.
  • midfielders - bousquets - in the midfield turning away and driving away from pressure and securing the ball
  • attackers - messi 1v1 to beat his man

  • square up the defender with small touches 

Explanation:

ball mastery 2 boxes of 12 x 12 with a blue end zone 5 yards off the end line

movement of the ball performing different skills and turns. 

making sure players perform using both feet

progression into zone game

on the coaches call or clap 

players are to run from their box into the other box marked with the blue end zone, players are to perform a skill turn and run back into their own end zone

first team back gets points 

players are to watch out for eachother in the middle

3 stations with 4 on each station to maximise reps in the 1v1 attacking

players start on mannequins and drop off to receive off a spot or pole

Explanation:

SSG 

3v3 

red team attacking the goal can only score after performing a turning skill (10 mins) (each team will get 4 attacks and then change) players manage it themselves

blues team can score normally by running the ball into the blue end zone

last 10 mins a normal game of 3v3

all restarts from the team poftb using the small goals
