Set - up
8 v 8
Attacking team, red, play a 2-2-3-1.
Defending team play a 4-2-1 plus a GK. If defending team win possession can they play wide and forward early to score in either target goal.
Attacking team look for player rotation to create passing lines between players, or, space in between the defensive team for a pass to be made into space.
Player starts with attacker playing a intercepted pass to CB 1 or 2.
Key Factors
- Do attacking team look to create a passing line to furthest man by dragging defenders away?
- Does CB select the best passing option? Do attackers look to create triangular movements in a forward position to add support angles.
- Triggers for players movements, as soon as a player has passed he should be looking to find a new position to recieve the ball. Body shape to recieve the pass to allow to play forward. Do the recievers check there shoulders for defenders if back to goal.
- Timing along with angles, distances, support and movement are vital.
- Early, clear & concise communication.
- Is there player rotation? If central midfielder drops to recieve the ball wide does FB take his position in Midfield.
- If #9 drops off to recieve the ball, does the number #10 take his advanced position.
- If wide players cut infield does the #9 react to it and bend his run wide to create a space for winger to attack
- Quick player rotation & interchange in around the penalty box.
- Do players support there pass.
- If FB plays #10 does the HM drop in and allow FB to make a supporting run.

Set - up
9 v 9
Attackers, blue team, play a 2-2-3-1 (work with this team)
Defenders, red team, play a 2-4-2. If defenders win the ball can they play direct to there striker.
Play starts with attacking GK playing out to the CB, who look to split wide.
Key Factors
- When CB's split to recieve the ball, does HM drop into there position to recieve the ball & provide cover.
- Does attacking team understand the need to play at different levels of intensity.
- Players must understand and recognise when to move into space to support attack, and the angles and distances of there runs to create a passing option.
- Do players react to where there is space and move forward into it.
- Can players create attacking patterns of play between groups.
- Do players make runs to drag defenders away to create space. If Winger cuts inside, does CF make a run into his space to create a gap in the defence?
- As the speed of movement between players increases, do players look to play one or two touch?
