Wing Movement (20 mins)

Focal Points: One to two-touch passing, receiving properly, proper pace on ball. Attacking as a team.

The focus on this drill is the wideouts movement and run into space. The run should be diagonal towards the back line. They are looking to receive the ball in the space between the two poles closest to the wideout (The pole that represents the midfielder and the defender).

The forwards triggered movement comes from the wideout making their run. The forward will step back and away from the right back, and into the space between the lines of opponents defense. They will then move horizontally down the line, requesting a through ball from the wide out. The forwards movement should cause the defensive back to step to them and create a gap. We are trying to exploit this break in the line and attack the goal. We are also isolating a defender and creating an overload on their line.

Center mid attack (25 mins)

Focal Points: One to two-touch passing, receiving properly, proper pace on ball. Attacking as a team.

In this drill the center mid will initiate the attack with a ball played wide to the wing. The center mid must check deep enough to allow a run onto a ball from the wideout. The centermid will pass the ball out and make a run on the outside of the midfield and defensive line. The wideout will play a ball that the centermid can touch into space, and break the line. Once the line is broken the centermid is crossing a pass towards the top of the box for the forward run on to. This is a quick attack that requires one to two-touch passing and an all out sprint from the center mid. We are trying to get the defensive to shift and be off balance.
