Warm Up (15 mins)

Aim


To wake everyone up on this lovely morning


GK Aims


  • Movement
  • Speed
  • Watching
  • Set position
  • Trigger points


Instructions


The GK will start to the side of the goal. 


On command, he will move over the large hurdles, and once completed, he will move behind the ball and pass this out to c1. The GK will have to remain in line with the ball to receive the shot from coach c1 who has controlled the ball and shot. 


Through hurdles by:


  • side step
  • forward jump
  • backward jump



Progression


After the shot from c1, the GK will rise to his feet to receive another shot from c(p) who is closer in (and has received the rebound)



Coaching Points. 


  • The GK moves easily through the hurdles and creates power in his legs
  • Explosive speed to the ball but controls his kick out to the coach
  • Watches the ball all the time and sees the trigger on when to be set for the shot
(If the GK is having problems with the trigger, get them to shout 'set' at the trigger point.)

Where is the ball? (25 mins)

Aim 


To have the GK making a series of movements, forward and backward to instill good foot movement, eyes on ball and stopping into a good set position


GK Aims

  • Fast feet
  • Looking at the next working ball all the way into the hands
  • Setting in time for the shot on goal
  • Securing the ball

Instructions
The GK will start at the sideline of the box.
On command, he will move forward and around the hurdle, then move to be in line with the ball for a shot.
The GK will recover from the shot, move backward (while watching the next ball), around the next hurdle, and move forward.
Repeat for 3,4,5 & 6
Both side to be worked

Aim


To show the GK how bad passing can quickly turn a game around and puts pressure on himself


GK Aims

  • Movement with ball at feet
  • Quick recovery movement
  • Triggers
  • Set position
  • Securing the ball
Instructions
The GK will start with the ball. On command, he will move out to the right large cone and when level, wwill pass the ball with a weighted pass to c1. 
c1 will control the ball, move to the right of the cone and shoot on goal. ]
The GK has this small amount of time to recover, guage and set into position before the shot is made. 
Once he has recovered, he will compose and move onto c2 and then c3
Both sides to be worked
Progression
All rebounds are live
c2 will take a 2nd shot at the end

Coaching points
  • Good control of the ball with the feet
  • Looking up for the defender and performing a suitable pass
  • Quick movement into the new position, always watching for any trigger into a set position

Sprint & Dive (10 mins)

Fast movement      10 mins


Aim


To have the GK's getting into the habit of moving at their maximum speed over a short area


GK Aims

  • Quick build up of speed
  • Watching the target
  • Smothering & securing a ball
  • Rising off the ground and a quick build of of steed into a sharp stop

Instructions
The GK's (in competition) will start on the outside wide line of the box
On command, they will sprint forward and dive on a ball in the middle of the box. If they do not secure the ball, they have to go and collect it, stand up and hold against their chest for 3 seconds
They will leave this ball in the middle of the box and sprint to the far line where they have to stop on the line, if they go over the line, they are eliminated
