Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): 7.22 session #1

Agilities rats and rabbits (5 mins)

Players stand opposite a partner. One player in the pair is a RAT the other is a RABBIT

Coach yells out either RAT or RABBIT

Blue = Rat (B end zone)

Red = Rabbit (A end zone)

If coach yells RABBIT players race into Red end zone (A)

If coach yells RAT player race into Blue end zone (B)

Player who wins race they get a point

Progression:

Add ball so players dribble - starting with a turn

Coach can yell other words that start with R which players won't move (Raddish)

1 v 1 (20 mins)

THE SESSION:

Coach plays the ball out first play in each line sprints to ball players try to turn and dribble through either goal.

PROGRESSIONS:

Red players try to dribble through red goal and blue players try to dribble through yellow goal.

KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:

Early Arrival (15 mins)

Session:

Coach plays ball into one of the lines.

A goes at defender and attempts to dribble through one gate or the other. When attacker gets through gate and across the line they play the next person in line and become the defender.

Defender goes to the line where the attacker came from. REPEAT

If defender wins the ball they play to the next attacker. Attacker who lost ball becomes the defender.
