Warm-up (5 mins)

Warm-up (10 min.)

Objective: Get proper blood flow throughout the body, increase heart rate, activate muscles, ligaments, and tendons, and prevent injury.

Set-up:  

 

  • Use the entire field 

  • spread everyone out on the sideline

 

Instructions: Players will perform 12 movements from sideline to sideline.

      • Forward/ backward jog

      • High knees

      • Butt kicks

      • Shuffle right/ left

      • Karaoke right/ left

      • Forward A-skip right/ left

      • Lateral A-skip right/ left

      • Walking/ lateral lunges

      • Open/ close gates

      • Broad jump

      • Skater hops

      • Tuck jump to sprint

Objective: close control dribbling 

Set-up: cones will 6 feet apart. each player will have a ball

Instruction: 

  • Using the outside of their foot players will dribble from left to right and vice versa. 
  • take a touch with every step
Key points:
  • keep ball close to the body 
  • light touches 
  • go through different variations outside of the foot, sole of the foot, and croquis.

Zig Zag Passing (20 mins)

Zig Zag Passing Drill (20 min)

Objective: Improve short, medium, and long-distance passing.  

Set-up: 

  • use half of the field for each group 
  • set up cones as shown 
  • have one player per cone 

Instruction: 

  • Player A starts with a low and hard pass to Player B
  • Player B takes a touch and passes to Payer C
  • Player C passes a medium-distance, low and hard pass to Player D
  • Phe following players will continue the pattern.
  • Player H will turn an dribble to the orange cone, Player H will make a long, low and hard pass to the Player waiting by the blue cone.
  • Players follow their passes to the next position, rotating the next spot.
Key points:
  • short, medium, and long passes 
  • touch and pass 
variation 
  • set a timer for each round 
  • first time passes 
  • focus on weak foot passing

Short/long Pass Drill (20 mins)

Short Pass, Long Pass (20 min)

Objective: Improve first-time passing, ball control, and long-distance passing.  

Set-up: 

  • create a 4 cone passing grid spanning the width of the training field. 
  • assign 4 players to the grid, with 1 player next to each cone. 

Instruction: 

  • Player A plays a quick one-two return pass with Player B
  • Player B delivers a short pass to Payer A
  • Player A then plays a long-distance pass to Player C
  • Player C receives the ball and repeats the sequence. 
Key points:
  • open body to your target
  • few touches as possible

  • directional first touch 
  • encourage players to move before receiving a pass.

Box-to-Box Drill (30 min)

Objective: Receiving the ball, turning the ball, quick passing, and shooting  

Set-up: 

  • set up the cones as shown 
  • place two mannequin on the left/ right 

Instruction:

  • Player A plays a quick pass to Player B
  • Player B checks their shoulder before receivingthe pass from Payer A
  • Player B delivers a pass to Player C
  • Player C receives the ball and returns to Player B. 
  • Player A will be in the box making a diagnol run.
  • Player A receives and shoots 
Key points:
  • open body to your target
  • quick passing 
  • turning with the ball
  • stay on side
variation
  • move player C to the left side and mannique to the right and repeat drill.
  • encourage players to move before receiving a pass.
