Character Development:
Discipline:
Definition: Discipline means staying focused and doing what needs to be done, even when you don’t feel like it. It’s about making good choices and following through with them, like finishing your homework before playing or practicing something regularly to get better. Discipline helps you stay on track and reach your goals, even if it takes time or effort.
Practice 1: What is Discipline? Why is it important?
Practice 2: How do you show Discipline in soccer?
Practice 3: Can Discipline be used at home or school? How?
Practice 4: How can we motivate each other to show Discipline?

6:10-6:35pm
Set up:
- 2 pugg goals & all soccer balls at midfield
- Attackers are trying to score in the goal, and Defenders are trying to counter in the 2 pugg goals at midfield
- Reset after. If you have more than 5 players, they can join a line and rotate in
- Play starts on the attacking teams first touch
Reps: 4 x 5 minutes rounds and then rotate attackers and defenders
- First round passive pressure. Defender is not stealing the ball, but putting pressure on the attackers.
- Next rounds play is live
--Coaches can add a trailing defender on the crosser to put some passive pressure once your group gets the hang of it
Introducing the Game:
- We are working on crossing and finishing
- Defender is not pressuring the crosser, they are defending the middle for the cross
First Stoppage (5 minutes in):
- Ask: When we get the ball wide and down the line, where are we looking to cross it? In front of the goal away from the GK
- CP: Cross to players in front of goal (away from the GK)
- Change Attackers and Defenders
Second Stoppage (12 minutes in):
- Ask: As we see the ball go wide and forward, what should we do? Make runs in front of the goal
- CP: Make runs in front of goal
- Change Attackers and Defenders
Third Stoppage (18 minutes in):
- Reminder of the 2 CP's for the topic
- Change Attackers and Defenders
End of Drill Before Final Play:
- Remember we are trying to cross and finish
- If you hear me say "make a run in front of the goal", make runs towards the goal to get into a scoring position for a cross
