Setup - Split hall up into 4 mini pitches & players into 8 equal teams. If a team has one more or less it doesn't affect the session.
Aim of the game - To have a 1v1 matchup, to score a goal the ball must be stopped on the opposition line. Whichever team wins moves up a pitch & whoever loses moves down a pitch. Each pitch is names after a different league. The team who wins on the Champions League pitch at the end of the drill is crowned the winner.
Rules of the game -
Teams are randomly assigned pitches to start
1 player from each team at one time, players who are not active cheer their teammates on from behind the end line
If the ball goes out of play, whoever is in possession starts again by dribbling it in
To score a goal the ball must be stopped dead on the opposition line
Each mini match lasts 60 seconds, if a there is no winner the 2 players go back to their teams
At the end of the overall match, if the scores are level then rock, paper, scissors will be used to determine who moves up & down pitches
Coach to recap & encourage as many skills in a 1v1 situation as possible
Please be aware that the ball will run over to other pitches, please make it clear to the players to stay on their pitches & have the assistant coach ready to provide extra balls where needed
Make sure to stress that if you do end up on the League 1 pitch that its irrelevant & the most important part is to have fun & practice 1v1 skills.
Possible extra's for coaches to add in -
Extra points for more than 2 skills used in a mini match
A nutmeg counts as an automatic win
Whichever team is cheering the loudest gets a bonus point

Warm Up
Recap previous week of turns/skills & coming into contact with other players - Explain how this week, players will be progressing to 1v1 situations putting all the skills into practice
Warm up - Everybody has a ball, dribble around the area using both feet & different parts of the foot
Recap previous skills learnt - Scissors & sole role
Introduce new skills - Step over, Ronaldo chop & stop & roll
Coach to provide demonstrations for all skills
Key coaching points for each new skill -
Step over - Foot around ball, bend knee when planting leg, shift body weight to the side to fool defender & explode the opposite way using outside of the foot to take off.
Ronaldo chop - Depending on which foot, be aware of the space going into, elevate yourself off the floor slightly to make it uncertain for defender, use inside of the foot to chop ball at a 45 degree angle past the defender & change direction sharply
Stop & roll - While dribbling with a defender close, place foot on top of the ball to give impression a drag back is coming, wait for the defender to move towards ball & quickly roll it forward in the direction you are facing.
Warm up game - Players to be in pairs, if there is an odd number use assistant or coach as a buddy.
Number each player 1 & 2
Numbers 1's will dribble & number 2's will be stationary with the ball at their feet.
Aim of the game is for number 1's to dribble upto as many numbers 2's in 60 seconds & perform different skills to take the ball past them, number 2's cannot tackle.
Players switch & tell each other their scores
Progressions include -
Less time to get a better score
Players have to use all 5 skills learnt
Players to create new skill if possible
Players can only dribble with a certain foot
Make it into a competition between partners & whole group
