Foundation Move - Outside hook
Coaching Points:
1. Set up as player is about to pass ball
2. Instead of passing ball, foot goes on top of ball
3. With the same foot roll backwards
4. Accelerate away
Numbers Game
Players with a ball each dribble around in area, every three touches they do a move. When coach calls a number, you have to get into groups of that number. (anyone that doesn't has to go with the coach)
Progression - when coach calls out "pressure" players have to run to another ball and get into the defensive position
Coaching Points:
1. Speed to ball
2. Arms length
3. Side on
4. Sitting position

Set Up:
6 v 1 / 2 or 3 in the box, the whites must have a ball each and keep in, the defending 3 must win the ball and kick it out of the box. The greens must keep the ball away from the defenders by shielding and moving. Once the defenders win the ball and kick the ball out then that player too becomes a defender.
Manage numbers appropriately so that there are less defenders, to make session harder for defenders by taking defenders away to start / to make it easier add more defenders
Aim:
Give players opportunity to practice in a 1v1 situation. Work on the defending aspect and how to deal with players running at them
Coaching Points:
Defensive coaching points
Sprint to the ball
Slow down before they get there
Put the breaks on
Side on
Half turned
Show away
low centre of gravity
recovery step and run if beaten

Set Up:
Attackers must run across the area to the other side without being tackled. If the defenders win the ball and kick the ball out of the area then that person becomes a defender too. The last one standing is the winner.
The coach should signal when the attackers can leave one end and attempt to get across to the other end.
Aim:
Allow players to defend in situations where players are running directly at them
Coaching Points:
Work as an individual to start to win the ball
Defensive technical points
Once attackers become defenders then work together to win the ball off the attackers that are left

Set Up:

2v2 (10mins) progress the practice to play 2v2 - this time the attacking teams scores by running the ball over the end-line - if the defenders win the ball they can attack the other way and stop it on the other line
Aim:
For players to learn and defend one area of the field, to show inside and away from goal
