- This drill can focus on many aspects of the game, but here it is focused on quickly connecting passes and delivering the ball effectively to the other side
- Goal is to connect 5 passes and find a pass to the other team (red must connect five and connect to blue, on ground or in the air), without getting the ball stolen by the defending team (green). One point is earned when this is completed
- If the defenders win the ball, they switch the play and the team that lost it goes on defence
Challenges, Conditions or Targets:
- In order to quickly get the ball over, a team must have good shape and be able to make good decisions. Can the fourth pass be a layoff, so that number five can be the final pass into the other zone? This is the way to do this the quickest, and requires some sort of collective idea of attack. Body shape towards the other zone will also help to make these actions happen quickly

- Scrimmage functions as normal. Bonus point for counter-attack goals, or moments when a defending team can intercept a pass and start an attack right away. Look for structure in the attack, but let creativity flow

Boxes (15 mins)
- A great drill for touching the ball and moving into a new space, boxes work by each player following their pass
a) Players pass around the perimeter, opening up with and passing with the far foot. They follow their pass and continue on. Switch direction at 2 minutes
b) Players complete a give-and-go. Importantly, the initial passer should move towards the center to complete the pass; this creates a better angle to complete. Switch direction at 2 minutes.
c) Players lay the ball off, and initial passer goes to the far target. Initial passer should move away from the center of the grid to create a better angle for the long pass
Challenges, Conditions or Targets:
- Body shape and correct foot are KEY here
- Passing and movement for option B must be sharp, and player starting the initial past must move towards the center of the grid; this makes the second pass easier for them to complete (as it is a flat pass)
- Option C requires one to set themselves up to hit a longer pass harder and more accurate than before (as it is a longer pass). Thus, they must take great focus in their movement to put the ball onto the correct foot and at the right speed
