- Firstly need to explain jockeying at the start of the session (e.g. what does jockeying look like, when to jockey, when to try and win the ball etc..)
- Players work in pairs.
- One player dribbles between the cones moving towards the goal. The other player must jockey the player focusing on the technique (e.g. footwork, body position, angle).
- Once they pass the final cone, the dribbling player may have an attempt on goal which the other player must try and defend.
- Once the players complete this action they then move across to the other side and re-start, swapping roles.
Coaching Points:
- Footwork (small steps, keep feet moving, do not cross feet)
- Body position (angled to push player to the outside)
- Body position (keep between ball and goal)
- Body position (keep low, surfer position to enable quick changes of direction)
