Trigger 1 - Ball played from GK to CB
Each players role as ball is played from GK to CB:
9 - presses with an arching run to cut off a pass to other CB and force to play forward.
10 - In a position to cut off a pass into the nearest centre mid but expected to rush over to press the other CB and take up the no. 9 role if the pass is made from CB to CB.
7 - moves slightly forward but remaining narrow to apply pressure. ready to press the FB if the ball is played to them.
6 - marks the opposition centre mid that is nearest to the ball on the ball side (outside).
8 - drops deeper to become a deep midfielder to screen the potential pass from CB directly into the feeder (opposition 10).
11 - moves narrower and onto the outside shoulder of the centre mid that is furthest away from the ball. this applies pressure but allows 11 to quickly press the opposition FB is quick switch is played.

Trigger 2 - Ball played from CB to RB
Each players role as ball is played from GK to CB:
7 - Arcing run to press the FB which stops a pass down the line and forces to FB to play inside where the Blues are strong in numbers,
9 - stays with the CB who played the pass, on their inside shoulder.
10 - placed in between the lines of CB and CM to make the pass from FB to opposite side CB difficult and potentially intercept a weak pass if played.
6 - marks the opposition centre mid that is nearest to the ball on the ball side (outside) whilst scanning shoulder to screen a pass forward.
8 - shuffles over to screen the potential pass from FB directly into the feeder (opposition 10).
11 - stays with CM that is furthest away from the ball on their outside shoulder. Can apply pressure if played to CM or threaten the switch of play which is likely to happen with the numerical advantage.

If the ball is switched from FB to CB then the movement of players is mirrored on the opposite side of the pitch, except the 9 & 10 swap roles to save time as 10 is nearer the CB with the ball.
10- presses with an arching run to cut off a pass to other CB and force to play forward.
9- drops into the 10s position to cut off a pass into the nearest centre mid from the front.
11- moves over towards the FB to apply pressure if ball is played to them (show inside).
8- moves from deep screen to mark the ball side of the nearest CM as quickly as possible.
6- drops to become the deepest CM, screening a potiential direct pass into the feeder (opposition 10).
7- moves across to mark the outside shoulder of the CM that is furthest away from the ball.
Important that the partnership between the 9&10 and 6&8 works well during the switch.
