Description

This week we will focus on positive play when using the first touch trying to get in a position against the opponent where we can break down lines using first contact with the ball.

If Applicable we will also be incorporating GK's into our sessions from start to finish this will be an effective tool in order to get the most out of your keepers. ask at the start of the session to see if you have any on academy 

Please Note:the sessions are designed for multiple age groups it is up to you as the coach to cater these sessions and adapt the to the ability levels of your group.

Organization

20x 30

12-16 players per grid set up two grids if numbers and space allows

half the players with the ball half without

Player arrival

-As the players arrive have them work individually on the soccer side work for skilz to pay the bills,

week 2 receiving in the air thigh

If Applicable to your group ask at the start if their are any keepers

-Gk's to have gloves on moving around the grid working on throwing and catching the ball as they receive they must tuck the ball under the chin.

-GK's at anytime can call a players name and serve a pass to them using distribution with the hand role then receive a pass back by two handed scoop then continue to another player.

Instructions

-players with the ball must dribble through the middle of the grid and perform a move of coaches choice while keeping their head up and looking for a pass to a player coming from the outside edge

-players without the ball will be on the outside edge looking to receive a pass from the inside players.they must receive with a positive first touch and attack the space ahead doing the moves through the middle square.

-the rounds will last 1 minute, in the rounds the players will perform one move per round until the players have completed 4 moves.

-Gk's to receive on the outside with a two handed scoop nee to the floor they must then quickly get into the middle square before distributing the ball to an out side server with a hand role under arm.

-on field players can also pass the ball to an angle away from the keeper so they will need to react quickly and dive to the side to receive.

-GKs Catching,scooping and under arm role distribution

Progression

-add goals to the 4 corners of the grid

-the coach will select two defenders or a GK if available to protect the middle square, players will continue to pass and then dribble through the middle this time for a point while the defenders are trying to steel their ball GKs can use their hands to steel

-if the defenders or GK's steel they can now transition to score in the goals GK's can distribute with hands into goals.

Passing & Receiving repetitions10 mins

2x 15x20 channels

6-8 players per grid

Instructions

Part 1

-player from both ends of the grid will pass to one direction to the players in the middle cones then follow their pass to the middle cones

-the players in the middle cones must open up on their back foot to take their first touch and dribble to the opposite line

-after a set amount of reps have the players now pass the opposite direction working on their other foot.

competition

-have both players from each end make eye contact and air high five they must then play to their middle player and see which one can open up and race to the opposite side quicker ,the team who completes the rotation first wins an MVP Point.

part 2

-both players on the middle cone will check in for the ball from their end players,they will look to open up to receive on the back foot now to break the line between the cones on their first touch.

-after enough reps have the players now play a double pass before opening up and penetrating the line

competition

-have both players from each end make eye contact opposite side quicker ,the team who completes the rotation first wins an MVP Pond air high five they must then play to their middle player and see which one can open up and break the line with their first touch then race to the opposite line but must break the line on their first touch for the point to count.

Coaching Points

Receiving -On Ground (Inside)opening up ,Receive with furthest foot from the ball open hips as ball travels hop onto standing foot on contact to prepare for next action ,Receive with the toe pointed up and ankle locked 

Passing- Push Pass 

-Non-kicking foot placed on the side of the ball pointing at the target 

-Head up observe target-Working on inside-push pass: use inside surface of kicking foot, heel down, toe up (V shape) 

-Strike through the middle of the ball 

-Follow through the pass to target with passing foot-Weight and accuracy of Pass 

GK's

-goal keepers will also work with their feet in the middle of the grid but use their hands when distributing from the ends using and under arm serve

-key focuses will be acuracy of serve play into back foot & weight of role

two goals positioned rotationally in the dirction of the activity

Instructions

Part 1

-building off the last activity now when the players break the line of penetration have them lift their heads up and go to goal

-after a few reps restrict the amount of touches the players can take before breaking shooting after the line broke penetration is broke

competition

have the player see how many goals they can score in a round of 2 mins the goal only counts if the player breaks the line using their first touch unless a bad pass was played from the server.

part 2

-add in a defender for both sides that starts on the middle cone as shown

-when the first pass is played the receiver must go 1v1 to goal with the defender to score

-if the defender steels they will transitions back throu the line to win the point.

-after a set amount of time change the defenders in the middle.

-after a few rounds change the position of the goals so the players now go the opposite direction using their other foot.

Coaching Points

-receive on back foot

-break the line quickly

-if defender applies pressure use a move to beat them

-head up for end product

Gk's

-goal keepers will serve from the end like the last activity

-when in the middle they will recive a hard pass from the end as if they are scooping the ball from the other team then they must use over arm distibution into the goal, challenge the keeper to put spin on the ball

-key focus ,quickness in transition ,power & acuracy when using the over arm throw, with good technique the ball should graze the ground before entering the goal.

-in part 2 the keeper can be in the goal or continue as a player in the lines.

20x30 yard grid

2 teams split in half one half by the goal and the other at the center cone

players on the end have the ball

Instructions

-play will start with one team playing the ball into their middle player to combine

-as soon as the pass is made the player from the opposite teams middle cone will defend against them

-the attacking team will play 2v1 to goal

-if the defender steels or keeper saves they will transition to the opposite goal.

-after their is a goal or play breaks down the other team will now attack playing the ball into their middle player to start.

-players will rotate from middle to end cones after a few rounds.

Coaching Points

-play quick to break the line before pressure is applied

-can we combine to beat the block

-open up on the back foot

-use 2v1 as a disguise to go 1v1

-head up for end product

-goal keepers will play in goal as regular keepers using the tools from the session they can transition with the defensive team

Organization:

field size (20x30 4v4) 25x35 (5v5) if space avalable

2 pugs per field

Instructions

-each age group will combine to make teams of 4v4 or 5v5, 

-the teams will compete in a round robin tournament

-3 points for a win 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss

- players must not step inside the red cone areas in front of goal this will stop goal tending ,the players must shoot from outside the area

Coaching Points:

1. 3 lines of attack, defense, midfield,Forward

2.Team mates create gaps, can player in possession look to dribble into them

3.when to Dribble,Pass or Shoot

to add an extra element of competition at the end of each game each team will select one player from their squad to go 1v1 against the opposition the winner will gain an extra point for their team,and if the game ended in a tie this would mean an automatic win for the 1v1 champion and the team.

-This week we will focus on deception from restarts teaching the players to disguise their next move in order to create an advantage in play
