Adopting an open body shape is one of the main principles of possession. It is only by doing this a player can see the whole field and be in a position to make the best choice possible. This practice is suitable for players aged 11 and older and works on a players ability to receive with an open body shape to face forward to play forward.
Set Up and Rules:
1) The set up is as below. The field size should be adjusted for the age of the players
2) The first player from each line dribbles into the center at the same time, turns around the cone and passes to the goalkeeper (1).
3) They then support at an angle. As they do so they should adjust and back pedal so as to be able to see the field.
4) As they support they must look over their should and observe the field.
5) The goalkeeper passes back to them (2) and they receive, dribble forward and shoot in the other goal (3).
6) Players collect their ball and rejoin the end of their line.
7) Adjust the side the players pass back to and ensure that both feet and used in the passing, control and shooting.
