Warm-up small~sided game:
5v5 red vs blue with 2 neutrals yellow players on the goal line. Teams in central zone will play possession game with 3 touch restriction. Player who receive the ball in the outside red zones can take as many touches as they want. Teams must get the ball from one yellow player to the other yellow player on the ends. When the ball is out of bounds team must restart with the yellow players.
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
Progressions:
- Neutral players are now in goal and the game is now directional with the same rules with touches in effect.
- if a ball is out of bounds in a half it must restart with the goalie in that half.
- if teams need a challenge 2 touch in the middle zone
Regression:
- No pass restriction, try to help and promote and maximize shooting chances
Challenges, Conditions or Targets:
- Build up (passing the half line) through middle zone equals 1 points on top of the point for the goal.
- Build up (passing the half line) through wide zones equals 2 points on top of the point for the goal.
Small-sided game:
Progress the drill to a standard 6v6 match, 5 red vs 5 blue with 1 yellow keepers per team. The game will now mimic a standard game promoting a real game feel. Coach is encouraged to promote playing out of the back via passing on the floor. If teams need more reps the coach is encouraged to make every out of bounds ball restart with the keeper to increase playing out moments. Each goal counts as 1 point.
