1v1 Games

Defender plays ball to attacker and steps quick to win the ball

Attacker has a mini gate or net to choose from to try to dribble to - attacker must dribble through gate to get a point  

Coaching Points - Attacker

First touch must be directional to start engaging defender

Take risks

Change or Speed & Direction

Creativity to get away from Defender

Once Dribbling, must change direction and speed

Upper body movement

Transition to defend if lose ball

Pattern and finishing (20 mins)

Pattern of passes - 3rd man and finishing

Connect with 9 to lay it off and finishing

3x4' - after 4 minutes the groups will rotate

3 challenges 

1st -  7 needs to pass the ball into 9 / if 10 passes into 9 - one touch finish

2nd - 9 needs to lay it off but 10 can play back

3rd - Ball in the air - first pass

Waves - working on the movements to check in and check out and attack different areas


5v3 +1

Objective: Positional practice where number 9 will link with number 8 or 10 in order to create a 3rd man a play into 11 or 7. 

  • Ball Starts with 8 or 10- They play into 9
  • 9- Can either Bounce to opposite CM or Play out wide to 7/11 and attack Goal

Coach will play the second ball into the action to create a transition. 

Defending team will have a number 6,4&5 Defending the First action and a 8 that will come back trying to recover the position. If they get the ball, they will score on mini nets. 

Progression 1: First ball will be in the air for 9 to try to control

Progression 2: First ball will go into 7 or 11 - different runs

4v4+1- Rotation in Final 3rd (20 mins)

Objective: Rotation to create scoring chances in a 4v4+1

  • Ball Starts with a 10 or 11 play into the 6 or 8
  • 6/8 with touch forward and attack creating a 5v4 with the 7 or 9 as the Target players
  • Looking for movement and rotation off the ball from the 9,11 & 10

Coach will play the second ball into the action to create a transition.
