2010B - Att, Def third - Building out using the #6 to keep possession
Principles of Play:
- Spread out
- Find space, create a clear option
- Pass to a teammate or dribble forward when possible (when in doubt, keep the ball)
- Find the spare man
Key Technical Skills:
- Hitting firm, pacey passes on the floor to a teammate
- Playing the pass to the 'safe side' away from defender(s)
- Scanning to find the option before getting the ball
- Speed of play to move the ball quickly

Two areas, 6 players per area
- 4 players on the outside, 1 inside the square playing 1v1
- If defender wins the ball, they turn into the attacker
- Attacker can score by receiving from one player, and being able to play to a different player outside of the grid
- Outside players must pass to a different outside player after receiving before being able to play back into the middle zone
- Rotate middle players every 1-2 mins
Coaching points:
- Playing into the 'safe side'; away from the defender where only your player can receive the ball
- Hitting a firm pacey pass on the floor
- Toe up, ankle locked on pass
- Plant foot at target
- Hit the middle of the ball
- Scan early before getting the ball to see if you can play into the #6

Functional 7v5 +1v1 game
- Attacking 6 try to find their target player in the end zone for a point
- Defending 4 (5) try to prevent the attackers from building up and recover the ball to score in the big goal
- Switch roles each game so players try all new positions
- Play 6x4' games
- Attacking team must have at least 1 player above the white hold back line (doesn't have to be the #6)
Progressions:
- Target player can switch with the number #6, but defending players must stay in the end zone (passing the player off)
Coaching points:
- Spread out, create space and options
- Play forward when possible, but if not possible, find a new gap by moving the ball quickly side to side
- Play 1-2 touches to move the ball quickly
- Back 4 should keep the 'tea cup' shape, so the #6 has space to drop into the middle (center of the wheel)
